Accoya Wood

Introductory video: What is Accoya?
Sustainable, High Performance Wood
Atlas Lumber is a proud distributor of Accoya® wood. Accoya® begins as a sustainably-sourced softwood that undergoes a non-toxic process which permanently modifies the wood through the core. This results in the world’s most dimensionally stable wood, modified or unmodified, and even better than the best old growth teak. Because Accoya is so dimensionally stable, it is not subject to wood’s natural shrink-swell cycle, which means coatings typically last 3-5 times longer. Learn more- Accoya Wood Info Guide
Dimensional Stability
Accoya machines like normal wood and doing so exposes no unmodified sections. Windows and doors can be made with significantly higher tolerances and will continuously open year round, in even the most extreme environments. See Accoya In Action
Outstanding Durability
Accoya® wood is also the most durable wood available and is warranted against rot and decay for 50 years above ground or 25 years below ground, in fresh water immersion or when exposed to salt water spray. An all wooden high traffic bridge made of Accoya® was even built in the Netherlands due to Accoya® wood’s exceptionally long lifespan (80-years in the bridge application). Longevity guaranteed- Certificate of Warranty
Impermeability
Though Accoya® wood is modified using an entirely non-toxic process, it also acts as an effective barrier to insect attack. Even the most aggressive fermosan termites do not recognize Accoya® wood as a food source and look elsewhere for sustenance.
Accoya®: Perfect for the Most Demanding Applications
Accoya® wood is the perfect material for the most demanding applications. Accoya® can be profiled into high performance decking, where it is important that deck boards are cool to bare feet, yet do not warp, twist or bow. Windows and doors are perfect applications for Accoya® due to the available tight tolerances resulting in outstanding thermal insulation properties. For siding, Accoya® wood can be made in wider widths, without concern of warping or gaps. Accoya® wood accepts stains and coatings beautifully, making Accoya® siding a low maintenance option.
